Remember when the Cadillac CTS Coupe debuted, and we were all like, "Oh hello there?" Well, don't expect the same thing to happen when the new ATS Coupe is unveiled – these brand new (overexposed) spy shots show a two-door that's decidedly more sedate than the angular yet curvaceous and all-around good-looking CTS Coupe. This isn't to say that the smaller Caddy Coupe won't be attractive – the four-door version is plenty pretty, to be sure – it just likely won't have that extra somethin'-somethin' to truly set it apart from the sedan.
Fine, then. We don't doubt that the two-door ATS will be just as enjoyable to drive as its sedan sibling, with a lot of the mechanical stuff likely carrying over unchanged. That includes the powertrain options, meaning buyers will be able to choose from the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four, turbocharged 2.0-liter four, or larger free-breathing 3.6-liter V6.

Article is a bit off. The CTS Coupe is the one with the marketing problem, not this new ATS unit. A more conventional and conservative coupe design is where it should be, as to pull in a broader audience. Said formula works very well for Infiniti, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. CTS Coupe could have sold better if it was styled similarly (ie, with a trunk).

The ATS spy profile looks sexier than the current CTS coupe. Don't get me wrong, the CTS isn't ugly, just a bit stubby looking.
The ATS looks to balance things out a bit. Not of fan of them moving the Cadillac emblem from the dead center of the grille to the top center. Makes things look off

The previous CTS coupe was unique and sold well. Here's hoping they repeat the formula with the ATS coupe, too. A bit more conservative styling wouldn't hurt the brand, IMO. I hope they still produce a CTS coupe. A Caddy fighter for the E coupe and 6 would be very nice.

If Lexus wants to shed its image of being stodgy, a stylish coupe and convertible would go a long way to helping their cause.

"The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is a natural step in the brand's progression, and another distinctive, fun-to-drive and technologically advanced product for a new generation of drivers extending our target groups," said Uwe Ellinghaus, chief marketing officer, Global Cadillac.
The coupe will ride on the same, 109.3-inch wheelbase as the sedan. But both its front and rear tracks are about 1 inch wider, with shorter overhangs and fenders that wrap snuggly around the standard 18-inch wheels (the sedan comes standard with 17-inch wheels).
There are two powertrain options, identical to those of the sedan: a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 272 hp and 295 pounds-feet of torque; and an optional 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 321 hp and 275 pounds-feet of torque. Cadillac says the coupe won't offer the 2.5-liter base engine that comes standard on the sedan.
