I understand your position and feel the same.

I'm just glad we're in the minority on this one.......otherwise GM would never be able to pay back the debt

Yes, debts should be paid off. But, as I see it, GM owes more to their customers (and potential customers) in the quality of what they build than they do to Big Brother. And, as far as I'm concerned, they are delivering. On average, the difference between many older and newer GM products (and, also with Chrysler) has been little short of stunning.
