I saw one at the Philly Auto Show last week--that back seat is tiny; really tiny. Overall, it was ok. But if it's going to be priced the same as a 3-Series, good luck to Jag.

Meanwhile, the '17 A4 was also at the show--that interior was gorgeous, and the back seat was actual adult size. Really nice.

The XE is actually priced pretty well in the segment. It is like the polar opposite of the new A4. The XE has the standout British design, while the A4 is conservative (boring and that side profile is too VW). The XE is one generation behind in its interior, while the A4 will be class-leading (MB might disagree). The XE will more fun to drive and more raw, while the A4 will be more composed and what you expect from traditional luxury. Engine and drivetrains are a toss up. I'll give the refinement edge to the A4 though. And reliability...

In the compact executive saloonsegment, the Jaguar XE is still somewhat of a newcomer, though that hasn't stopped certain publications from building it up to be best-in-class.

The XE is the Auto Express compact executive car of the year for the second year in a row and with competition from the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, all-new Audi A4, Volvo S60, BMW's 3-Series and, quite recently, theAlfa Romeo Giulia, we're curious if you think the XE deserves such an accolade.

We're also talking strictly about the UK, where there are a couple other rivals that we could mention, however neither Lexus nor Infiniti have managed to excel in this segment these past few years. The video does offer a few explanations regarding the XE and its status as a compact executive leader, though we can't help but feel some of those attributes could have easily gone to the A4 or the C-Class - depending on personal taste.

Still, there's no denying Jaguar have really hit one out of the park with the XE and those that already love the way it looks (both outside and in), probably wouldn't mind spending upwards of £26,990 if it was within their budget for a new car.

For that price, UK buyers would get the 2.0-liter 200 PS turbocharged petrol model with an automatic gearbox. In comparison, the 190 PS Audi A4 2.0 TFSI S tronic costs £28,995, whereas the Mercedes-Benz C200 starts from £29,125 if you add the optional 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox.

What say you: are the Brits a bit biased flying the Union Jack or would the Jaguar XE have your vote in this segment, too?
