Default I couldn't do it

I almost sold my LS.

After 2 years of whining about getting 10-11 mpg, worrying about upcoming costs related to A/C, starter, etc, I was looking for something else. Have also been missing a manual transmission something fierce.

Had somebody coming to look at it tomorrow. Had a vehicle I was pretty set on buying. Found out that that vehicle had sold this morning. So unable to find something in the area that could replace my car within my range ~$3000, I texted the guy and told him I needed to hang onto this car. I've been doing okay financially, what with having two jobs and minimal expenses, and a good bit of savings. I'm going to keep this thing for another year or two. I graduate with my bachelors in Accounting in December, maybe I'll buy something afterwards, once I have a decent job.

In the meantime, I'll just keep chuckling at my sister who complains about getting low 20's in her Saturn.

Did not know the LS400 could be such a gas guzzler! Is that mostly in stand still traffic?

Couldn't of said it any better! When it comes to selling your Lexus, it's something you just can't do...something I'll have to go through this next year as I'm probably gonna sell my SC...I don't think 10 MPG in city is correct, o2 sensor maybe...Our Sequoia doesn't even get that bad gas mileage...

Not stand still, but lots of stop signs. Yeah, 10-11 is the regular fare here. I've done tanks of pure jack-rabbit starts as well as tanks of grandma driving. No change. This is going for almost 2 years now. When I was at home in a rural town, I was getting maybe 13-14.

On the highway I can get up to 27 or 28. I changed the ECT about a year and a half ago. It could be O2 sensors, but it would take thousands of miles of driving to recoup the cost. I've only put 13,000 on in 2 years...

In the end it happened for a reason. I think you should wait until you land a good job then go crazy

I think you're exactly right. I got my tax refund today, as well as paychecks from my 2 jobs. I think I'm going to Discount Tire on Saturday and throwing on some new shoes. The current tires are pretty bad, and definitely out of balance.

Just hang in there bro, time would pass soon enough, you will be out of college and will be in a better place. Reading your thread makes me think of myself was there not too long ago.

I went to a local tire shop and had a set of Goodyear Integrities installed yesterday at a cost of $386(including tax). I'm pretty happy with them. My vibration issue went away completely. They do look a little anemic(they are the factory size of 205-65-15). The tires that were on this car before were 215's, which the prior owner had installed. I can't imagine the difference would be enough to throw off the speedometer or anything, would it? It could explain why my best hand calcs around here were 10-11.

Don't do it if you don't have to! I recently made that mistake. Thinking full-time grad school and Lexus ownership didn't mix, I talked myself into selling it. And cried while signing the papers. After two months and a huge loss, I kicked the Honda to the curb and am driving another Lexus. At least this one has fewer miles.

Hang on if you can.

tire diff (if only width was bigger) would only explain about 2% of fuel economy.
with the bigger tire your odo/car would show less mileage than you actually drove, resulting in a lower mpg calc.
