Toyota launches redesigned Crown flagship in Japan

Thats Crown Athlete with the grille... Majesta and Royal versions are much more subdued... it is for Japanese market anyway, so it is specific to their tastes and design... As I said before, Crown and Mark X outsell Lexus, BMW, Audi and MB in Japan.... and those luxury foreign cars sell really well too.

Did I read somewhere that the 2008-2012 Crown TRD has a 4.6L V8 (ala LS460) except it's twin turbocharged to 555hp. Granted this Crown is downsizing for two NA V6's 2.5/3.5, and a NA I4 Hybrid. But my gosh, there's your GS-F there. Bring that Bi-Turbo V8 Stateside and give the people what they want Lexus!!
Damn that engine is badass.
Kind of like the supercharged 2GR-FSE in the Mark X. Not nearly as powerful but still really cool.
I don't get why they don't offer stuff like that here.

I think some people are better off not commenting at all on a certain topic if they have little idea of what they're talking about.
Lexus makes the Crown irrelevant? The Crown is a legendary car and model line in Japan. The car does, and will continue to co-exist with Lexus.
As usual, people fail to miss some real innovations on the Crown, including some world firsts. The 2.5L direct injection engine in the hybrid system achieves a peak thermal efficiency of 38.5%, which is absolutely incredible for a gasoline engine. It might even be world-class for a gas engine. At the very least the Toyota press release says it is class-leading.
Then there is the new wood process on the cars which includes gold stitching and complex geometric patterns using cutting edge digital processing for the wood.
Then there are the innovations in the suspension. The rear suspension arms have an open cross-section for improved NVH and less suspension vibration while maintaining good ride and handling. Then there are the unusually offset tie rods in the front and toe arms in the rear which greatly enhance ride comfort and stability during high speed cornering.
