Scion xB death sentence uncertain, minor updates announced
#16
I was 19 at the time of Scion's launch. Now I am 30 years old.
I cannot stand being marketed to. All of these "Scions" should have been branded as Toyotas. To be perfectly honest, I would buy a Subaru BR-Z just because it doesn't carry that "stodgy" "Scion" badge that my parents generation dreamed up to sell to me.
Scion FR-S???? WTF?????
What was ever wrong with the heritage of the "Toyota Celica" moniker??? Somebody my age appreciates names with several decades of heritage.

Scion xB's Only Addition for 2015 Is a Standard Rearview Camera

Scion may call the 2015 xB new, but very little has changed for the new model year. As a matter of fact, the only new addition for 2015 is a standard rear back-up camera that enhances visibility when the car is in reverse.
The 2015 Scion xB carries on with the 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque and returns an EPA-estimated 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km) city and 28 mpg (8.4 l/100 km) highway with both the manual and automatic transmissions.
The car has a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $17,120 for the five-speed manual transmission or $18,070 for the four-speed automatic. Prices don’t include the $770 delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee.
Standard features include the Display Audio system featuring a 6.1-inch LCD touchscreen, remote keyless entry, power windows with driver side auto down, electric power steering and 16-inch wheels offered with three standard wheel covers (5, 6 or 7 spokes). 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels are optional.
Standard offered colors for 2015 are Black Sand Pearl, Nautical Blue Metallic, Sizzling Crimson Mica, Army Rock Metallic, Absolutely Red, Classic Silver Metallic and Super White.

With the Nissan Cube leaving the American market (it probably should not have come here to start with), the xB probably needs to stay in production simply if, for no other reason, to give the Kia Soul, a runaway-seller, some credible competition.

The pursuit of F
A brand that is to create excitement disappoints. Toyota is more exciting now with their '14 Corolla and '15 Camry. As some have stated, the TC would slot nicely by the Corolla as a Civic coupe competitor. Heck, a Corolla GT-S would be cool and the FR-S as a Celica GT-S... now that's exciting
Can the other Scions and call it a day.

A pity. The original xB was distinctive and unique, if a bit "small" on the outside (but spacious inside). The new generation is every wrong about a refresh - heavier, bulkier, poor fuel mileage. Ok it has more hp but it doesn't help with the new weight. Plus, it's using an "ancient" pairing - 2AZ with a 4-Spd Auto, the same as our 2002 Camry. I would've thought Toyota would drop the 2AR in with a 6-spd auto to at least lend the xB some credibility.
