Lightweight twin turbo hybrid for the price of a 911? I'm curious to see how they're going to pull it off. I'm glad they kept the mid-engine layout because a front-engine would have been a disgrace to the NSX name.

gotta keep the price manageable or this will be another Acura failure....I know they're not going for high volume here but still....demand has to be there.

I'm curious about the rumored 2,200 lbs figure. It seems highly improbable with the electric motors/batteries.. We're talking MR-2 Sypder weight here...

NSX could cost Turbo money and people would still buy it.

That's never going to be happen.
Old nsx was roughly 3000 lb and with no fancy electronics, 1-2 airbags.

New nsx with new motor/hybrid stuff and new electronics should be heavier than old nsx.

Only the new vette pulled off the low weight so far despite all the new improvements

yeah i don't see 2200lbs as even remotely possible, unless it's fiberglass or something.

but it definitely looks interesting.

I don't know who came up with 2200lbs but customers should consider themselves lucky if this thing weights just over 3300lbs

2200 lbs is their target, aiming for the moon that doesn't exist......LOL. Maybe it is lost in translation, 2200 KG? haha..........

The ALL carbon fiber everything Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is 2200 lbs, that is CF chassis, body, wheels, brakes.......etc...........CF everything, with no turbo, no electric motor, probably no cats, no airbags, it is a track only car, it doesn't need to have anything.

It is easy to guess the weight of this new NSX, basically the old all aluminum NSX (3000 lbs) + 2 turbos (100 lbs), 2 intercoolers (100 lbs), 3 electric motors (150 lbs), battery packs (300 lbs), dual clutch tranny (100 lbs)............my guess is 3650 lbs would already be an achievement. The steel chassis V6 Twin Turbo Nissan GTR with no electric motor is 3850 lbs, that give you another reference point. The all aluminum NA V8 Ferrari 458 is 3400 lbs with no turbos or electric motors, this new NSX is between 3400 lbs and 3900 lbs.

2200 lbs, LMAO......hahaha....

Or maybe it's a typo and they actually meant 3,200 lbs

Still respectable with a bunch of electronics/motors.

Great news. Longitudinal engine mounting is more preferable for balance and packaging of the turbo/hybrid drivetrain hardware. Even better news is the NSX will again get its own unique engine and will not just be using the RLX engine.

There is no way it will weigh anywhere near 2200lbs, that is either a typo or misunderstanding. I would not even want a road car with its performance potential to be so light, it would probably not be that safe unless they came up with some amazing breakthrough technologies. I would be very satisfied if a turbo hybrid 4wd mid engine exotic like the new NSX weighs under 3400lbs.

The only thing I'd kind of miss with the longitudinal mounted mid engine is the rear trunk the original NSX had. That made it a very practical daily driver if you didn't need to take more than one passenger.

So they switched from N/A V6 to a turbo!!! This means at least 550hp if not more. Along with a longitudinal mounted mid engine layout and SH-AWD, things are getting a lot more serious now!!
