my IS350 is boring--> all IS are boring ( did you try the ISF???) ---> IS is a Lexus ----> Lexus is boring ----> Lexus is not appealing to me anymore
This train of thinking just smacks of unjustified assumptions and errors in logic.

I have driven the IS-F plenty of times. It is a fun car but I don't want to own practically the same car for my next car. (same body. same interior)
If you think Lexus is boring, may I suggest that :
1) you may be hopelessly out of touch with current Lexus developments,
2) have not done adequate research and are operating from incomplete knowledge
3) ( Or maybe just drinking too much "Germany Is Best" Koolaid peddled by the BMW forums).
Case in Point :

BTW, I do own a IS350 that is highly modified. I am not coming in here with a BMW and spewing random **** out of my mouth about Lexus. I own one myself.
I don't understand why you keep talking about the GS350. I really don't care because I am sticking to a compact sedan, not a full size sedan at the moment.

Lot of different opinions on this thread. Here's my 2 cents:
Wife has a 2010 335i with 19's and M sport suspension, less than a year remaining on the lease. And I can't wait. It has been a problematic car, from multiple fuel pumps, sensors going bad, and other electrical problems. I've probably taken it in over 20 times in less than 2.5 years. She's had 5 straight bimmers, and this one will probably break the trend, that's how bad it is.
That said, I'd be okay with a V8 M3 as long as it is a manual.

The new M3 will probably be the most tunable car. I think you're making a mistake looking at the C63 AMG. You don't strike me as the kind of person who would be satisfied with a stock N/A engine.
Inevitably 2 or 3 years down the road you'll get bored of the C63 AMG's power and you'll want more. When that time comes, a stock factory turbo will suit your needs better.

Wait for the M3 bro and ignore the fan boys here, they're just as bad (very pretentious) as the folks on the bimmer forums that they cry about. Irony as its finest.....

IS boring???
The new IS is even more promising :

What's sad is how some Lexus owners get off the Lexus train based on false perceptions and outdated information.
The new Lexus is anything but boring. Whereas BMW is becoming more like the new Mercedes : soft, luxurious, disconnected and numb.

@ natnut good points, but as OP stated he is set on his list. Agree or not, its his money and his opinion that matters. But your points are a good reference for others who may not be so set on particular list of cars.

Such a silly topic. You should get a RX with F Sports package that way you can offer to tow home the guys that buy the other cars on your list. Duh!
Or wait for the new M3 unless you have to have a car soon.

M3!
If you do get a new M3 make sure you do BMW's European Delivery Program. That's what I did and it was a remarkable experience. So remarkable in fact that I want to sell my current M3, wait 2 years or so and buy a 2015 M3 via European Delivery.

AMG are very good for straight line power... I have an 06 E55 and it pulls hard because of the massive torque. The beamers are better for curvy roads and whatnot... you ultimately have to determine what you care about more. I was going between E55, M5, IS-F, and all I really care about is straight line power / torque.. that's what's most appealing to me. The ///M owners love to brag about handling as if they're driving on the LeMans 24/7.
If you want to be considered in a more elite class of car categories where the engines are hand built and the cars are limited production, stick to the ///M or AMG. The C63 sounds amazing and exhaust notes are pretty underrated for cars... everyone's always looking at HP / 0-60 numbers. If you care about gas mileage, the 335i is obviously going to beat them both by a long shot, but remember with all the modifications and ways you drive the car, that MPG can come down quick.
