I agree with the people who think its kinda silly to have 11 pages of back and forth chatter about something that doesn't exist.

Since auto magazines are routinly picking 100-130hp less cars over M5, I am pretty sure you are not correct.

spwolf: Do you also post on Neogaf? I thought your username looked familiar so I googled Neogaf for spwolf and confirmed that there's a spwolf who also posts there.

I think people want to be able to say "I told you so." Its a hell of a drug. I am just glad they are working on it. I hope they put the effort to get it right and I hope that its in the budget for me. The rest I'll let the test drive solve. I think the ISF is great, but I don't fit well in IS', too tall. So this is a great news for me.

If they build it, I shall buy it even if it has sub 500hp, I'd still be happy. Price it similar to the XFR and that would be a winner in my eyes. 500hp in a saloon is overkill...............

You might as well just call it something else like the GS500 F-sport.

If Lexus wants to compete in the same league as:
-BMW M5
-Audi RS6
-Mercedes Benz E63 AMG
-Jaguar XFR

then it needs minimum 500 hp.

Something like 461 hp is not gonna cut it imho.

Don't get me wrong. The possibly of Lexus releasing a higher power variant of the 4GS (beyond the current GS350 and GS450h versions) is something that I highly appreciate. And I applaud Lexus for that.

However, 460ish hp is not gonna send auto magazines, sons of oil tycoons, drag racers and billionaire auto enthusiasts into nirvana.

Remember, this vehicle segment is about NUMBERS game.

I mean, look back at when the ISF came out. The moment it came out, the car immediately set it sights against the M3 because it had the power and performance figures to back it up.

And wow I think it had slightly more HP and max torque than a the S85 engine in the E90 M3:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_S65
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_UR_engine#2UR-GSE

And that's what I'm talking about: Lexus 'F' division exceeding (or at least matching up with) the competition

Hence, my imho is: Anything less than 500 hp for the upcoming GS-F is not that acceptable to me. For a GS500 F-sport, then yes the 461 hp is more than adequate......BUT not for a GS-F.

A less than 500 hp GS-F only goes against what Lexus has started with their ISF that beats or is at least able to keep up with an E90 M3.

Just my opinion......
Are we talking about a FRS or a GSF?

People buying these cars aren't ignorant of the competition. They'll drive each of them, and decide on what they like the best. A HP number isn't that important. They aren't building muscle cars.

When I interviewed the IS-F Chief Engineer last month @ Pikes Peak, I was given a firm "NO COMMENT"

Thanks Joe. At least you tried! Guess that means we might have a while to wait. I commit now to buying the next "F" that comes out - whichever comes soonest.

You want power nothing can beat the turbo Germans.
It worked so far. Time for lexus to do like they did back in 98. Oleg400 has the best sig to represent the car

I felt the same way and own one today. Now I'd start looking at the M5.

LOL. I sure would be in trouble. Would have to sell the house and the kids. Hopefully a nice little GS F comes along before my 40th birthday.
