Face of next BMW M3 caught while testing
Behold our first clear glimpse at the 2014 BMW M3. Photographers spotted the high performance sedan undergoing hot-weather testing in Death Valley. Engineers peeled back a slab of heavy nose cladding for the first time, revealing the machine's menacing lower valance and headlamps. The design features sizable air intakes down low, and it looks as if a new hood is part of the recipe as well. If these photos are any indication, the M3 will continue to boast a prominent power bulge for the next model year.
Massive drilled rotors and similarly potent-looking calipers are part of the song and dance, which is a good thing. BMW has made it clear the 2014 M3 will bow with a forced induction inline six in place of the current model's fire-breathing high-rev V8. Even so, we don't expect to see a reduction in power or performance.

It was right behind my car on Las Vegas strip this Sunday afternoon. I knew right away it was the new M3. I lowered my rear sunshade and asked my wife to take pictures like crazy. The driver seemed really pissed and he made a turn into the Vdara Casino. Pretty cool encounter, I almost wanna follow him and force him to popped the hood for me to see what's really in the engine bay!

LOL, is that why you guys haven't bought a current gen M3 coupe? its not offered with fogs...they reasoned it for more cooling....get the vert, it has them because BMW figured the vert wouldn't be tracked or driven as hard (looks like the M3 last gen sedan didn't have them either).

I'm really interested in how the new M3 engine will perform. Although I like the high rev nature of the current engine, I actually prefer the low end grunt of the AMG models.

I'm interested in the aftermarket. F3X M3 is supposed to weigh less and make more power than the current E9X. The motor inside is supposed to be a heavily modified N54 with around 450hp. If that's the case, then you'll soon see 'Dinan' and other aftermarket versions of the M3 making 550hp+ with basic mods. Going to be amazing.

BMW Rumored to Debut M3 Sedan Concept at the 2013 Geneva Show, Allegedly Won't Offer a Manual
According to the grapevine, or to be more precise, Autoweek magazine, BMW will lift the covers off a new M3 Sedan concept at the 2013 Geneva Salon next March, much like it did with the current M3 Coupe that was shown as a pre-production study at the 2007 edition of the Swiss motor show.
If this holds true, then the Bavarians will likely present the final production model later in the same year – possibly at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show – and put it up for sale by spring of 2014 for Europe and later in the year for the rest of the world.
A high-ranking BMW official who was not named in the article also told the magazine that the rumors about a V6 turbo engine are "utter rubbish".
Instead, the F30-based M3 will gain a straight-six turbocharged engine, which is believed to produce somewhere around 450-horsepower, up from the current unforced-induction V8's 414hp (420PS).
The same powertrain will be used on the two-door model that will be named M3 Coupe or M4.
The Autoweek report notes that for the first time since the birth of the M3 series with the E30-based model in 1986, BMW will not offer a manual gearbox and that the car will be equipped with a standard seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
However, this is something that has not been confirmed by BMW officials, and let's not forget that the automaker presented a manual gearbox option for the larger M5 sedan this year, so we would take the news with a grain of salt, at least for now.
