Tire size question on shaved Camry
Hi, i have a 1997 Toyota Camry running 225/45/18's all around.. I found a new set of 225/40/18's and wanted to know if anyone here would know what the difference may be as far as ride, and road handling.. I have an 01 LS430 but i use the Camry as my main daily driver for my work commute which is about 60miles plus daily.. Camry has 220kmiles.. LS430 just hit 200k both work flawlessly.. Thx...

Ride will be slightly harsher, rpms will be higher at same speed due to reduced overall tire diameter. On an older Camry I don't see the point, especially a car used for daily driving. I had a '97 with the 14" wheels and didnt give a crap about it looking cool, it was a plain Camry, just wanted a cush ride that never gave me a headache and was cheap as hell to own.
smaller diameter will be harder ride as ancdmd said

for your DD, i suggest you honestly should just stay OEM. i used to DD my moms camry for a while (2001) and i LOVED the cushy ride , not have to worry about scrapping, dips, etc.
when i want rough i jump in my 2GS which is slammed and has 16k spring rates

I dont have the stock wheels anymore so the 18's arent going anywhere.. The current 225/45/18's are a little worn down, and the new tires in question 225/40/18's are practically being given to me.
A friend just came up on brand new 18in rims and tires and is allowing me to swap the tires so i can get the new ones.. He has no use for them.. So i figure brand new set on my Camry for just the tire shop labor.. >$20bucks
I've been modding cars since highschool...as a hobby.. So I figure i'd rather keep the extreme mods on the camry and go subtle and clean with the Lexus... Niether have payments or high insurance..
Its funny when people stop to ask me how i get in the car and how it all works.. It makes all the things you do to it, that much better and also gives a Camry a better name in my opinion...
