Really happy and surprised to see the new GS up front. I can't remember the last time. Finally saw one in person the other night and it had a very stately, modern, and sleek appearance. Of course that was a base model, with the much cleaner front end (IMO). If it drives as well as everyone says, it's a winning package.

Job well done Lexus. Now it's the IS's turn to do the same thing.

Great news! I'm hoping for even lower weight in the GS F, I believe Lexus can achieve this.

The new GS won, an SC concept stirring the pot, and the new ES looks to be a hands down winner, this looks like Lexus is about to be a (good)problem all over again. Lets hope the IS and LS dont let us down.

Lord did you see the 1/4 on that Audi. 13.4

Perfect Car.

GS = feeling and reliablity
Audi = performance number/engine
BMW = exterior
Infiniti = features

The numbers prove that the GS doesn't need a new V6 to be competitive right now, but when they do decide to add more power and the 8AT...

The FRS/GS and even LFA seem to have chassis that really could use some more power....I an only assume Lexus is hard at work on a new engine to use and share in the next IS F, the GS F etc etc ala Mercedes/BMW/Audi to share costs.....

The 3.5 drives great, very responsive in the GS but I can't help but think everytime "mahn if this thing had more power" for those that desire more. With sales through the roof a V-8 would add maybe a good 10% to sales, add a GS F and Coupe and we could easily be at 3k sales a month....

Lexus makes the best driving car in class.

my sentiments over the last few years. The DI 3.5L V6 is a gem on an engine. Competitive even at this stage of its life. AND NO other 3.5 can match its torque numbers

More powers fine so long as they don't ruin the engine. Infiniti failed in my eyes with the VQ37. It sounds so coarse and unrefined compared to the VQ35. I would take the G35 in a heartbeat over the frilly G37 despite the better interior

knowing lexus, they wouldn't just make an engine "bigger" for power and call it a day. they will go through all the work to make sure it's done right. i have faith in lexus on that.

Funny that you mention a V8...yesterday I was playing with the numbers and remember Lexus saying that V8s only account for about 5% of sales in this class. Assume Lexus sells 2,500 GS 350s a month...a V8 variant would be 125 cars a month (5%), and that is just GS 350 as I noted. Assume that they sell ~200 of the 450hs starting in May (2,700 cars a month) and a V8 would be 135 cars. That would put Lexus at a bit under 3,000 GSs a month which is very strong. It's a hypothetical argument, but 130 V8 models a month is 1,560 extra cars a year.

Consider adding a coupe with V6 and optional V8, and you could probably comfortably be over 3,000 units a month.

I don't think the car needs a V8 (0-60 in 5.4 is really pretty quick, no matter who you are), but it would expand the appeal of the new GS in sales volume and performance. No doubt that Lexus needs to refine the URV8 for the next generation, so I'll keep praying that they decide to drop it under the hood of the GS once it's ready

Agreed. Lexus said with the GS "there is no going back" and considering the reviews and sales this bodes VERY WELL for the brand and for those that want more sport and sport options. We have heard that F-sport is 25% of sales more than expected and in the forum tons of the new posters and active posters own F-sport cars. Lexus also figured out how to simply make the car drive better but not harsh or bad just because you add sport to it. As the article stated, it has the old BMW feel.

I just realized that the 3.5 V-6 so many *****ed about actually had better/the same performance figures of the 535 and M37. The Audi is on another level of speed. The BMW had the best MPG in the test. There is no doubt that this Lexus 3.5 is a JEWEL of an engine, debuting in 2005 in the IS and still just a beast.

I have been saying for years that the 3.5 L V6 is going to be the big motor of the future. V8s will be replaced with more advanced,powerful, and efficient v6s

Guess what??? The new GS has BOTH sport and luxury in spades. It may well be the most complete car that Lexus has ever engineered.
