335i are getting way too expensive. i remember my 2001 330i sedan was 41k before tax and license fully loaded brand new a decade ago, but now a similar equipped 335i sedan runs almost 47k before tax. i'd rather get a new GS350 F-Sport with that price range, but of course i am bias toward Lexus now

The 335, especially the AWD xi version, is hands-down my favorite Bimmer (has been for years), primarily due to its combination of power, superb road manners, and chassis-engineering. But its relatively high price (more than I care to spend), fuel-pump/electronics/hardware unreliability, and confusing I-Drive/electronic shifter has pretty much ruled it out for me. Still, for everyday driving, if I did decide to spring that kind of money, I'd get a 335 before an M3, which, IMO, costs a lot more, rides much stiffer, and, IMO, has a too-peaky a HP/torque curve.

so true.. a nicely equipped 335i sedan with navi, and other luxury features similar to IS350 luxury package is like 48k.. and their MSport package is around 4k more.. LOL

They don't look alke. The bimmer has a loner nose and a flatter rear profile for the trunk. I think the bimmer in this case is the better looking. I am eager to see what the new IS will look like . The current generation is old as sin. I am surprised that Lexus hasnt changed the IS yet.

Front of the new BMW is ugly! Has a flat face and too small.

Last Generation was a lot better looking!

Don't care much for the new 3 series styling. The hood is bloated at center, the boogers in the inner headlights look ill, and as someone already said, the greenhouse is too tall (A4 has same problem). Today's IS, after all these years, looks tightier and more buttoned up.
And what the heck is up with this new trend of unpainted sideview mirrors? Top models should include painted body parts, unless this is the 80's all over again.

when bmw introduces a new model, it tends to be a bit polarizing / awkward, almost to 'push' the market in a direction, and then their mid-model refresh refines it to make it much more appealing. lexus is actually doing similar - their mid-model refreshes up the ante. i expect the 4gs to get some changes on that 'interesting' front end mid-model. but, i know mike, this isn't about lexus.

not sure if serious. 2001? since a 2001 could be bought in 2000 you're talking 12 years ago, and it went up 20%? sounds totally reasonable to me!

Yup, just look at the GTR when it debuted. About $69K and now cresting the $100K mark here in 2012

The BMW increasing about 15% in 12 years make sense.
The GTR increasing over 30% in 4 years doesn't make sense.

Yeah the cars even faster, but that doesn't justify the steep pricing.

Anyway, surprised that the 328i feels sportier than the 335i.

reminds me of the lexus test drive i did of is250 f-sport followed by is-f. i found the is250 f-sport more fun because the is-f is so front heavy with the big v8.
