What I don't get is how did other staffers NOT recognize what was going on and stop the madness. I mean a Gallardo singing at redline for several minutes should be catching someone's attention. So it appears it took more than one idiot to ruin a perfectly good car.

What would you do if you had two identical 1800 HP (1342 kW) Lamborghini Gallardos? Pitting them against each other on the drag strip, for example, would be nice.
That is exactly what happened during the Texas Invitational event, where a drag battle between two V10 twin-turbo beasts was held. Unfortunately, one of them caught fire running at over 200 mph (322 km/h), because one of its turbochargers blew into pieces. Thanks to the integrated fire system, the orange Gallardo ended with only a few body panels melted.
