Great story, Dave.
I thought, at first, when I read the title, it was referring to something else.....and that Mike would surely have something to say.

1) The title of this thread almost gave me no reason to live. *sigh*
2) Surprised the driver chose to go to car dealership after hitting a bird. This is more of an accident/emergency, than an auto repair.
3) "Upscale Toyota?" Does the writer have a hidden agenda?
4) Good looking bird and a GREAT ending.

Great job on the rescue and that the bird survived.
P.S.
Oh and yeah, that wasn't the first time there were encounters with cars and animals (where the latter survived unscathed)

Pole Position
Got a few Red-Tailed hawks living in my neighborhood. They are surgical assassins. Amazing hunters with the skill of a ninja.
They eat squirrels, other birds, and wild parakeets from what I've personally seen. They ****** other birds right out of the air in mid flight.
After eating a bird, they leave a tight, neat pile of feathers in the grass without a single drop of blood.
Amazing creatures for sure.
Bonus fact, the classic hawk cry you hear in movies and westerns is from this particular hawk. No other bird makes this noise and in TV/movies, they use the cry of this bird no matter what species is shown on screen. Eagles are typically voiced over with red tailed hawk cries.
First time I heard the cry as a child in my neighborhood at dusk I was thoroughly freak out haha. When it's right above you it's very intimidating.
I took these pictures of one of them that lives behind my house. Those talons are no joke.
