Need advice : From 2007 IS350 TO IS250
I really dont see what you are gaining by trading up:
If both cars are working fine and dont have a history of problems - mileage/warranty is irrelevant
You hardly drive the IS, given you only have 51k miles on a 2007 - mpg difference between 250/350 isnt a big issue when you drive so little. I get 20-21 mpg city on my IS350 with my driving style.
I dont see what you are seeking to gain: losing 100 hp, gaining $30/month payment for a different color interior? Have you driven a 250? It is big change, especially if you are used to driving a 350.

Damn so many IS250 haters! lol
I think the 250 has more than enough power for what i/many people probably need - commuting back and forth to work mainly. There's no reason to have an extra 100hp if i can't use it anywhere, SoCal traffic sucks and CHP keeps most people at not much over the speed limit anyways. It would be nice if i lived in an area with long stretches of road and not as many CHP officers patrolling. Besides the power, your not losing much else...it's still a reliable and good looking Lexus, you get the same features inside, etc. On my commute i normally get between 32-35MPG depending on what areas of SoCal im sent out to (OC traffic is the only reason my MPG dips below 30). I've nearly hit 500 miles on a tank before, but i usually get to about 450 miles before i fill the tank.
Not saying its not nice to have an extra 100hp on tap, but the 250 isn't a bad car by any means.......Some people make it seem like its the difference between an LS and a Civic

If I were you, I'd stay with what you got. When I was buying an IS, I had the option to get a "loaded" IS250 AWD or a base IS350 with vented seats. I went with the '07 IS350. However I have been wanting to sell the IS350 in the last few months wanting to get an AWD drive car such as the C300 4Matic or BMW 335xi. Now I decided it's just best to stay with what I got.
I wouldn't make the change because first, 100 HP is a big loss. You'll get better gas mileage but only by 2-5 MPG. Your warranty would be longer for a year but so far, my '07 has never had any problems other than bad MPG that I'll deal with. The car is pretty reliable, stay with yours if it's been reliable so far. Mine too has paint that I would like to be better. The front has loads of rock chips and back has light scrapes.
I don't know why people so want black leather. I got black and I'm wanting to change it. Other than it stays cleaner, I hate it. Just yesterday, it was 97 degrees. When I got out of school, I got in my car, burnt my a** and couldn't breathe cause it was that hot in my car even with 35 percent tints all around. My friend's Corolla was parked next to mine without tints and cloth seats. His car was way cooler inside than mine for some reason. I'm thinking of maybe dying some of my interior parts white for contrast.
I think you should just stay with what you have for now. Wait for the new IS to come out and if you don't like it, then go for a used F-Sport one day.

Thanks a lot for the advice, your post made me realize cars are never goin To be perfect. I do love my cars pick up and beautiful exhaust melody.
Also, I will trade this car in for the 3is, if I keep adding 300 miles a day I will be substantially upside down.
But them again I bought an integra for daily....

This I can't agree to because I am not sure the 250's engine is any less advanced then the 350, with extra power comes more gas cossumption.
The older models comparison may be 2-3 MPG difference, though.

It sounds to me the paint and interior color were the major reason you wanted to switch from 350 to 250. Not worth it, I say you find a very qualified car detailers to get the paint back to the impeccable condition and call it a day. Or, you could find another 350 with less or no dings and great paint with black interior at similar monthly payment. Switching from 350 to 250 would make you regret the move later.
I don't know about any advancement difference but check the performance area chart on MPGs and performance times.

This is also true steering me away from the 250
Not hating on 25 owners but performance wise this is true.

Agreed, 250 and 350 are equal in quality just nots performance.
Thanks a lot guys for the great advice. I am keeping the 350
Absolutely not. Everytime you get into a new contract, you are sinking yourself further in the debt boat and delaying better opportunities later down the road. The best solution is to keep what you have, pay it off, and then you can decide if you want a new car. Trading up now holds you back from longterm advancement.
