First, I don't think that your race was a factor. Most dealerships simply want to sell cars, and generally don't care what color your skin is.....and all American money is green. Second, as far as wearing a T-shirt goes, I've been to some dealerships where the salespeople themselves wear T-shirts. In fact, that was one of Saturn's sales-policies....their reps wore T-shirts with the company logo on them.

But, you're right on one thing. Go into almost any BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, or Lexus shop, and the salespeople are usually in expensive buisness-suits.

I completely agree with you but we all know that reps go after the "serious" looking people first and I was slightly ignored (I had ask one of the reps for assistance), but when I said I'd like to purchase a X5 he was nice and kind. We all know that people have their own unconscious racial bias, or at least that's my opinion.
