As usual, infiniti's interior is good (they haven't changed the layout much).

Not bad, but I keep seeing angry bird

I like it. I have no use for a vehicle like this, but it looks nice

Looks like a Q7 mated with a Rav4. What a waste of resources. Infiniti should be concentrating on more important things like a Q.

Disagree. A D-class sedan would be a good halo product but will not contribute major sales.

A vehicle like this has potential to be a volume leader for Infiniti the way the RX is for Lexus. Even if they sell only 2500-3000 of these a month it would do wonders for Infiniti's market penetration.

I'm thinking more like this.... having a decent D-class car would do wonders for the company and display the brand as more serious and more encompassing. Anyone can do an SUV (they and everyone else has already done them), which does not create as much credibility or build brand panache.

Well, tell that to every luxury competitor who is trying to get the sales numbers of the RX. It's a very hotly contested segment and the market for this class (7 seat luxury) is pretty undefined so far.

I'm not all that convinced that people at large pay that much attention to whether a brand has a D-class offering, unless they happen to be shopping for one. I think products that generate showroom traffic are far more important than an image product.

Agreed. The JX does have the potential to be Infiniti's volume leader if it is priced competitively with the RX. The only other 7-passenger car-based SUV currently offered by a premium Japanese brand right now is the MDX.

The JX fills a void in Infiniti's lineup. The FX never had a chance to sell in big numbers due to its lack of interior space. In many ways, the FX is a niche vehicle similar to the ZDX and X6. The JX is Infiniti's first true competitor to the MDX and X5.

On the Infiniti website's feature on this thing, the "versatillity" shows a rear storage area under a lift up panel with what looks like a removable subwoofer. Weird.

RX and SRX are the sales leaders but seat 5. 5 seaters outsell 7 seaters, its not this giant market some make it out to be. Lexus/Benz sell about 1200-2000 GX/GL a month but they might have a higher base MSRP.

This fights head on with the Enclave and MDX. The Enclave now outsells the MDX. Both sell about 3-5k a month. Sorry but Infiniti is not going to sell anywhere close to that, outside the G35/37, their sales are dismal. The QX 56 seems to be their new flagship, a larger 7 seater that sells about 1k a month.

They would be lucky to sell 2k a month of these, especially with those looks unless the price is low or they of course lease very low. The interior is the same as any model they have which is a good thing.

Amazing that this will be their 4th SUV, built in Tennesse, FWD based with a CVT with possibly hybrids coming. If it was a Lexus, people would be beating it to death

True. And even more so than a D-class sedan, is an Infiniti version of the GT-R or a production version of the Essence Concept. Those don't have to sell well but will be good halo products. Similar to how the LF-A pushed Lexus into supercar-capable territory.

I think the JX looks great, reminds me of the Venza, which is fine because Venza is the best looking vehicle in the Toyota lineup today (minus the front grille). Interior is great, alot of resemblance of the new M. But it still probably won't sell, that's how alot of great cars from Infiniti are, they just don't sell well.

Entirely debatable. Acura is still selling its MDX at a rate of around 3500 per month. The Infiniti brand is at least a strong as Acura's if not more so and this new vehical looks more appealing in many ways than the MDX. There is great potential for Infiniti to sway enough shoppers away from Acura and maybe even a few from Lexus in the process.

The price and packaging will be key, though.
