What's happening in Egypt and Bahrain is far more important than in Libya, Yemen, or the other countries. Yes, Libya does supply some oil, but, with Egypt, depending on what kind of new government we get, free-passage of tankers through the Suez Canal could be at stake, and in Bahrain, home of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, our ships there escort tankers through the Persian Gulf and Straits of Hormuz. If supertankers can't get safely to and from port, you're going to see the price of oil really skyrocket.
BTW, regular gas (not to mention premium) has been above $3 for some time (in my neighborhood, as high as $3.25 for at least a couple of weeks now). One thing, though, that helps some.....our local Giant Food grocery-stores let you use your bonus-cards, in the checkout lanes, to earn discounts at local Shell stations......from ten cents to forty cents off each gallon. Every time you shop in the store you earn points......get enough points and you get 10, 20, 30, or 40 cents off each gallon. And Shell, like Chevron, is good stuff too, not junk fuel wiht lousy additives.

I always just tell myself that we still pay a relatively cheap price for fuel in the states compared to Europe (and Canada apparently) and so I dont complain. We have had it easy for too long.

I'm all for higher fuel prices. The traffic is getting ridiculous. People need to start living closer to work or car pooling like they do in Europe.
$8 a gallon would be great.

Of course this still seems ridiculously high imo, since most of you get your oil from here and we still pay this high a rate. Pulled out of the ground here, refined here and we still get screwed....federal taxes ftl.

Smaller cars with better fuel economy. One thing I am happy I live in Quebec, cheap electricity So its great for electric cars I just wish someone would come out with a review for testing an electric car in these harsh conditions.

Higher gas prices means fewer people who drive, more emphasis on fuel economy by car makers and more emphasis on alternative fuels.

I've been seeing an average of around $3.15 for regular. I've seen it as high as $3.32 for regular. Luckily, one of the local gas stations has his price at $3.09 so that's where I've been filling up.
