I think Clublexus is just one really huge Tyler Durden situation.

As for my friend, I don't feel sorry for him. I hope he learns his lesson.

Great post Phil.

My buddy thinks I'm ridiculous for buying $70K cars, but has no issue spending it on boats....or you spending $20K on bikes....lol.

Buy what you can afford and what makes you happy!

LOL! So very true.

OT, but I was at the boat show in Vancouver this past weekend and saw this boat. 2011 Marquis 500 SC. $1.3M CDN.

Lesson learned for your friend. Or maybe not. Maybe he needs to buy a few more clunkers on impulse before he learns.

Some people spend 7k on turbo kits, other spend 7k on Magic the Gathering cards. Both think the others are crazy.

True, but on a significantly larger scale, we, the financially-secure/responsible taxpayers, tend to end up paying for it.

Micromanaging sucks.

Get over it and do your best, not someone else's best.

I would never buy a car that has been tuned in any way as this provides insight into the driving style of the previous owner(s).

Those Dinan modifications should have been a vital clue, in my opinion. This car was possibly used in racing (even the illegal kind) and was definitely abused and probably had some other tuning performed on it (that might not be mentioned in the car papers).
