I agree, but the Leaping Cat probably looks better as a hood-ornament than as simply a badge. And the new Pedestrian-impact regs are doing a number on hood-ornaments today.
Good thread Mmarshall, I'm sure you know vintage Jags hood ornaments doubled as hood releases but haven't for a long time. When I worked with Jaguar a wacky auto journalist managed to pull off the leaping cat ornament in an attempt to open the hood on a S-typeR.
My favorite logos:
Porsche
Ferrari
Jaguar
Aston Martin
Pontiac
RollsRoyce
Bentley
Mercedes
Least fav:
Mazda
Toyota
Audi
Maybach
Mercedes when the hood ornament is 6" from the grill logo
Thanks. Not much of a pattern to it yet, although several posters, like you, have chosen the Jaguar cat, and a few others, the Mercedes Tri-Star. (the Tri-Star was also on my list)

I like a clean, symmetrical designs - which is why I find the Toyota and Hyundai logos to be simply awful.
The Nissan logo is also pretty bad, esp. when it is plastered superized onto a grill.
The only logo that doesn't look bad supersized on a grill is the Mercedes tri-star design. The Lexus logo doesn't look as good on a grill since it isn't symmetical (it looks much better as a trunk badge than on the grill).
