Default MotoShare: it's a motorcycle time share program...

MCN Link

Do you want a motorcycle, but don't want the stress of maintenance, insurance, or storage? Now you can with MotoShare in Los Angeles and New York!

http://www.jupitersmotoshare.com

For $1,999 per year, subscribers to Jupiter’s Motorcycles “MotoShare” scheme have access to a range of seven motorcycles, including the BMW R1200GS, BMW F800ST, Triumph Speed Triple and the Triumph Bonneville.

The firm currently operate from their base in Brooklyn, New York, and also run a similar scheme in Los Angeles. They have plans to expand into San Franciso, and London would be on the shortlist for any international plans.

The $1,999 “Weekend Warrior” fee includes three days of rental per month, with the $3,199 “Rough Rider” option allowing six per month, while the $4,999 “Street Demon” class allows twelve.

The firm are keen to point out that even these fees pale in comparison to the costs of maintenance, insurance and parking for riders in the big apple.

Whether the convenience of renting can prise American bikers away from owning their own wheels remains to be seen.

Jupiter’s MotoShare is an exclusive club – and in many ways, you’re already a member.

You don’t have a proper space for storage, or the time you’d like for maintenance. Perhaps life demands that you remain an infrequent rider, or you’re finding it harder to justify the expense of owning a motorcycle in a seasonal climate. Maybe you’re bi-coastal, splitting your life between New York and L.A.

No matter the reason, it could put you in the company of those who are not spending tens of thousands of dollars on a motorcycle they hardly ride every year. These riders spend less than half that price and get to ride one anyway, with MotoShare.

Jupiter’s MotoShare allows you access to a variety of superior motorcycles, all while avoiding the hassle of ownership. What do you get when you take away storage, maintenance and insurance? It’s simple, and it’s what you’ve wanted from the beginning – Just the Ride.

not a bad idea...but $2000 for 18 days a year?

I guess it goes with the territory...I know the BMWs are pricey ($20K?)

That 8800 figure could be on the extreme low end depending on where you live here in the city. 2 grand for 9 weekends seems a bit high though.

They also do straight rentals.

The cost of insurance buried in the total cost must be something big.

$2000 is 36 days a year (3 days a month).

That's about $55 a day (unlimited miles), which is not bad for renting a 1200cc BMW...

This is a scam for NYC residents... You would be lucky to get 5 months out of it.

Ahhh...

Didn't see that. I don't know why they would limit it like that.

I can understand NY's inclement weather (restricting 3-days-a-month for 6 months), but here in SoCal, it should be available year-round (or up to 36 days for the 3-days-a-month deal).

Cool in theory - but pretty much only applies to the wealthy folks who can't decide which bike to buy.

Besides, I ride way more than that.
