Question Original Escort 8500

I think this is the right forum, but i just bought an original escort 8500, not x50 for a $100. Is there any difference between the orignal and x50? Also can i expect in performance from the 8500. I came from a cobra so i can only assume it will be better. Does anyone have any experience with this unit cause when it comes to radar detectors, i have no idea

I have no idea what the difference between the originals and the X50's are?...but you did make me reach for my owners manual...lol.

I do know that there is a red and a blue version of the X50...and the sales guy stated that the only difference was that the blue version cost an extra $50.

Mine is awesome and has more than paid for itself.

don't know too much, but the x50 adds POP(instant-on radar) and has "up to" 50% more range.

this thread explains decently.
