I saw two and how can it look good? It looks like a beige wall. There isn't a stylistic bone in its body. Its hard to believe this is a new car in the year 2011, looks like a 1988 model.
Can't believe they continue to use the Corolla as a styling target
That had me laughing out loud.
VW is doing everything it can to achieve a high sales volume that they figure Corolla blandness, and now pricing is the way to go.
Hey VW, I'll give you a hint because you seem nice. Build a car that goes 100,000 miles without one repair (just oil changes, tires, serpentine belt).
And build it to go 200K with only minimal repairs. Sound unreasonable to you? Well, that's what Toyota's do, and that's why you don't sell in America.
VW's new design language, as a whole, is very underwhelming to me. The details are completely devoid of imagination or ingenuity and the overall shapes are too soft and flat.
If people think Toyota is vanilla bland, I have no idea what to call VW.
I have to agree, as pretty much any coupe is generally more appealing that its sedan brethren. But um yeah VW needs to step it up in terms of their exterior designs. Quite unimpressive as of late.
I hate the "this car looks like this" talk as much as anyone but I seriously don't see how you couldn't get the new Jetta mixed up with the A4
Is Walter d'Silva running out of ideas or something?
The Audi A4 rear end is low, wide and looks sleek and taut. The Optima rear end is high and looks boxy and bulky. The new Jetta, just like the Optima has a rear end that is high, and looks boxy and bulky. The Jetta rear is not low and wide, nor is it sleek and taut like the A4. It's not only about the rear lights, there is more to the comparison than that.
And yes, I think d'Silva is definitely out of ideas. Not a big fan of his designs to be honest. He's had a few good designs with the A6, R8, A5 and Passat CC. The rest of his designs have been either average or disappointing. Most of his recent designs all look disappointing.
I've seen the new Jetta in person and it looks decent and resembles the A4 in many ways. In fact, I would say the new Jetta looks like the A4 "without makeup".
