Sorry, but I don't like the design on this car. Looks like others like it, and I presume ford will price this reasonably so I don't see a reason that this won't sell.
The front end looks good aside from the dark plastic bumper cover (I'm sure it will be body color in production). The side profile lacks much personality and originality though.
Is it me or doesn't it look too small to be an Explorer? Are they sure this isn't the new Escape? Check out the pic with the man standing side by side. The roof seems shoulder high, which is quite a bit lower than past Explorer's or any other SUV in that class.

It would make sense that it's smaller since it'll have to slot between the Edge and the Flex. I still don't understand why the Explorer is going to be unibody. Too much overlap...

Yeah, making the Explorer unibody makes little sense. Does it not just make it another Edge with slightly different styling. The Explorer's whole reason for existence is that it's still truck based.
It has a lot of Taurus design cues and I think, once it's fully revealed, it will look great. I remember how people poo-pooed the Taurus in spy shots and now many have turned around because it is a great looking car.

Except for one big thing (at least to Ford), 3rd row seats on new Explorer.
Exactly why I made the point when asked "Does it not just make it another Edge with slightly different styling.", the Ford Edge only has 2 rows.
Key difference (at least to Ford), 3rd row seats on new Explorer.
Oh ya I see where your coming from.
So it looks like there going to slot the Explorer against the Pilot and the Flex against GM's larger CUVs such as the Traverse. Still too much overlap IMO but I guess it makes a bit more sense when you think of it that way.
