SuperGT Opener: Two Honda HSV-010s crash and burn at SuperGT season opener

It's have to find a way to lose 250hp to compete in GT300. Current GT500 cars use carbon fiber tubs, and are limited to 500hp as well. I'm sure the LFA could do quite well in GT500, were it ever to race there. Considering of course that the GT500 cars are basically silhouette racers, there would be a lot of work to do on the LFA... not to mention it'd be obligated to ditch the 1LR in favour of the RV8-KG V8.

Years ago Speed (formerly Speedvision) used to show Super GT races, but no longer. Back then they showed JGTC races, what Super GT used to be called.
I think the only way now to catch them in North America is having one of the Asian channels on satellite.
What does a production HSV have to do with the LFA being in Super GT?
The current generation of the Lexus SC is ending production soon.
The LFA is now the flagship Lexus model.
The LFA is now the flagship Lexus coupe.
The LFA is now the flagship sporty Lexus.
It would go against all reason and logic really for Toyota to continue to run a Lexus SC in Super GT, given the above points.

Lexus/Toyota really has no reason to put the LFA into competition, it is a limited car of 500 units which practically have already been sold, there is no marketing reason whatsoever to use it.
Furthermore, the cars being silhouette racers, there would be no engineering reason to do it either.
Hence my point about the HSV. If it does come to the street, Toyota will want to prove a point on the track, as many race fans do not know the difference.
p.s. When was the SC430 ever the flagship "sporty Lexus" ?

The Supra soldiered on for 4 years after it ended production before being replaced by the SC (which was already in production for 5).

They only decided years after the SC debuted to replace the Supra with a Lexus, to coincidence with the Lexus brand being released in Japan.
Toyota does have a reason, this is THE exotic/supercar from Japan, it is THE Lexus right now. It has a huge marketing reason to race the LFA. It will elevate the Lexus brand even higher in Japan and Asian countries. Obviously there is no engineering reason, it would be mainly for marketing.
As for proving a point, yes Toyota WOULD have a point to prove; that their LFA silhouette racer is faster than the GT-R or HSV racers. The LFA is already the fastest Japanese production car ever built.
The SC430 was never the flagship sporty Lexus, but it was the flagship coupe. The LFA is now all of these things, and more, things that the SC never was.
So no, I just don't see the SC continuing on in Super GT for years, when they have a CLEAR replacement with the LFA.
Also due to the fact that the cars are simply silhouette racers, it would not be a big deal changing from the SC to the LFA.
