Wait, how does the Prius only get 50MPG while the Auris gets 61?

Still, it looks kinda bad when a hatchback that doesn't really sell that well beats your halo hybrid car in gas mileage. Why would anyone consider a Prius over in Europe, where the hatchback is king, now?

The 61 MPG figure is not from the EPA. The Prius on the EU cycle is rated for 3.8L per KM or 61.9 MPG (Hwy). The Auris is 5.5L per KM or 43 MPG (Hwy).

I have a feeling all the new Toyota products are going to be really good.

Given Toyota's record R&D spending over the past few years, I would have to agree .

Remember that your new EPA lowers the ratings. In Canada, the Prius is rated for 61mpg combined (3.8L/100km). It's rated 3.7/4.0 (63.6/58.8mpg) city/hwy
