Yeah I posted about it b/c its another C&D classic toilet review.
The ISc here was
-only $600 more than the G37
-lightest in class
-fastest in class
-best MPG in class
-fastest closing top
-2nd best trunk room top up
-2nd fastest closing top
-quietest cruising
The BMW didn't even have NAV
The G37 was said to have awful structural rigidity
The A4 cost a whopping $62 grand with a softop and 4 cylinder
I can understand the IS is not the sport car of the group, the 3 series is but really the performance of the Germans is laughable here in comparison.
That said Lexus, how about send some F-sport cars to these magazine comparisons????? Send two cars, hell stock and F-sport. Get the word out!!!

I suppose the BMW won not because it's the fastest etc., but probably because it's the best balanced. And a little bias was probably a factor in the final placings, too.
I'm not a fan of Car and Driver myself by the way.

Just in case you missed it, the motors in the Audi and BMW are a few leagues below that of the Infiniti or Lexus. From a performance perspective it wasn't a fair comparison.

I assume they got the small motors b/c the large motors would have made the cars even more expensive.
The 3 got best interior yet didn't have NAV. The interior looks downright spartan without NAV!
To me its is ridiculous you can get a MSRP priced fully equipped F-sport IS-C for the same price or even less than a 210hp, I-4, softop A5. That is just insane.
Some here said "oh I'd get a IS-F or CTS-V" for that money. So this is even worse. You can get a 210hp A5 for MORE than a 555hp CTS-V which has more features. Am I missing something here?
Amazing. Price should have made it last, period. Quite frankly someone said it best, the price of all 4 is quite ridiculous.
This is the 2nd recent test a Lexus was FIRST in 3 VITAL things
-lowest weight
-best MPG
-best acceleration
and it didn't mean much.

Why would the not test with a 335i if they were going to use an IS350? A little surprised the Audi 2.0 did as well as it did in the performance stats but DAMN $62k the the A5? wow!
Surprising that the G37 boat thing was as quick as it was in this test. I would have thought it would have been slower... Kind of like their top, 28 seconds up, 28 second down. haha

Those are important factors but the issue for the testers was that those advantages were nullified by short comings in other key areas (chassis, comfort and utility). In the end, neither the Lexus nor Infiniti distinguished themselves in any consistent way. I agree with their conclusions in this case.

look at the score.
-IS lost 10 pts in the 'Vehicle' section. cramped back seats and etc
-powertrain was #1.
-only 46pt in chasis.
-328i had only 12pts in 1/4mile. is had 20pts.
- minus 4 pts for audi being overpriced.
looks fair to me.

I agree. It's not THAT bad for the IS.
