I am sure Hyundai was well aware of the fact that the Genesis models would be the start of their luxury and entry level sport segment and that they needed be stellar to meet the criteria in their new wave of new well made cars .
Even though it looks kind of like a G35/37 coupe, it is distinctive enough and some of these modded ones look pretty nice.
Ten years ago who would've thought Hyundai can make a nice sporty coupe (or sedan)?
They used to be the butt of jokes just like the Yugo.
no wait, i remember 10 years ago they had a tiburan or something that did well for a year or so. i remember considering it back in high school - integra vs. eclipse vs. tiburan. i thank my mom for choosing the integra gsr for me!
and to the hyundai reputation, well it does make a difference but no one should just dismiss it without trying it. i'm currently looking at SUV's and test drove the hyundai and kia, right along with the rx to the cayenne to the rover sport! - although i will admit their previous reputation and their terrible looking and unprofessional dealerships prevented further consideration.

I havent seen too many modded ones around here. Does anyone know how the motors hold up to higher boost? Are the motors and transmissions able to handle more power? Basically how do their motors and transmissions compare to other cars when it comes to getting more power.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe their turbo 4 is based off Mitsu's proven 4G63 motor. So if that's correct, it should be able to put out some power. Not too sure about the transmission though.
All these cars looks great! Although after driving both the turbo 4 and the 6 at Hyundai's driving event, I'm somewhat disappointed in how soft they both are. I think they both were track models as well (both equipped with Brembo brakes). For a little more money I would want to get a 370z instead.
I'm surprised to hear you say they felt soft in ride. That's not what it sounded from the pro (highly reputable) reviewer mmarshall. I would rely on his statements.
Oh definitely mmarshall has more experience in a wider range of cars than I do. Which probably means most cars are pretty soft nowadays...
But some background info on myself, I daily drive as well as track a modified WRX, so I guess driving one of these on an AutoX course felt soft to me. The car seemed to want to understeer and roll more than I expected it to.
The Genesis Coupe is starting to take the place of the tC and Civic coupe at my school's parking structure. I almost see one per floor. I'd do the same thing if I was looking for a new car
