22 years between this specific car and the current 2010 RL, sure... 19 years between when the first gen Legend design came out and when the current gen RL came out. Not really much difference but you started the nit picking.Originally Posted by I8ABMR
22 years to be exact. This car represents the genesis of the Japanese luxury makes aka premium luxury brands from japan. Before there was a Lexus or Infiniti there was Acura ( started 1986)

Would you really call this a car similar to the Genesis though?
The Genesis offers mid-class luxury for the price of a entry level luxury or large non luxury car.
Was the Legend's value proposition similar? I mean I know when the LS came out it was a stunning value for the money... a car that competed with the 7 series and S class for 2/3rds the price. But what was the relative price point and class of the Legend when it came out?

The first two Acuras were the small Integra and the large Legend sedan. But whether the $10,000 Integra was a hit or not was relatively insignificant compared to the gamble Acura made with the $20,000 Legend — no one had ever paid $20,000 for a Japanese car before.
Its really a good read there, that link

Does the car come with no Acura badge up front but with a V-6 badge?
Mike, the Acura badge or logo (Engineering Calipers) Was developed for the debut of the Acura NSX in 1990. Both the 91 NSX and 91 Integra ere the first Acura's to have the logo badge.Originally Posted by 1SICKLEX

Best Japanese Coupe to come out during those late 80s early 90s years. I do miss my 6-Speed LS every now and then.
On a side note, I believe the paint holds up pretty well on the early Acura's because it was an 8 coat total paint job. Not sure about the 1st gens though, but I do know on my spec sheet on my G2 Legend it showed 4 coat base and 4 coat clear.

Ahhhhh...... brings back memories...
I miss my KA8 !!!!! Classic and timeless design....

Wow I didn't think my car would be so popular.
Well the people that have lexus are older like 30s and 40s so I guess that is why everyone says "I remember those cars" You lexus guys know more about this car and appreciate it more than the people do on the Acura legend forums! Yeah the Legends are great cars but the 2nd gen Legend has serious HG problems but the G1 doesn't.
Yeah my Legend was about 30K back then so it was probably between the ES250 and LS400. My car has heated and power mirrors, a computer that reads current gas mileage, average gas mileage, distance to empty, all the fluid levels, and tells when to change the oil and when to service the car too. It has more features then some Lexus!
Yeah I have only had it for about for about 6 months but I have spent all of those months bringing it back to new condition and doing maintenance.
The timing belt, water pump, tires, and alternator were replaced a year ago and it also had a full tune up 10K miles ago. It runs flawlessly. It has only 168K miles. They make those seat covers for Lexus too and if anyone wants more info on them, let me know.
