What a $4000 car condom looks like
I'd have to check, but I think the door handles maybe? And not all of the side mirrors are covered. Other than that, it took them a while to do. Almost all custom work and they ran out of material and had to wait for more. I think the sides alone required 36 feet of material. But now I know I'm covered against anything!
Thanks.
I've got almost 900 miles on her now. 1100 more miles to go in the INSANELY long break-in period. Once she is broken-in, first thing I do is try out launch control.
Don't have enough miles to have done any maintenance on it yet, but research shows that tires last almost 20,000 miles, brake pads are about double that, oil changes seem to be on par with the IS F (about $200). In fact, everything seems to be priced similarly to the IS F in terms off maintenance costs.

To be honest, those are very reasonable maintenance costs.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds cheaper to maintain than a GT-R, which is contrary to what a CL member (and GT-R owner) in another thread claimed, that the GT-R is cheaper to maintain than any Porsche.

You're referring to the guy who claimed to also own 29 cars right? I only went through a few pages of his posts, so I suspect there's some 20-30 more cars that he's claimed to own as well. Personally I think he should sell 15-20 of his cars and go straight for a Koenigsegg.

$75. for Mobil 1 0-40 & filter @ autoparts store + labor should you decide to pay someone else to install, experts recommend every 6,000 miles

I used to break-in new 2002 Porsches for PCNA up to 1,000 miles.
Fun Fact: Porsche had to make a machine to form the Cayman quarter panels since no machine existed that was capable of making that curve.
Is that Porsche break-in recommendation from your owners manual??

I am relaying info from a Cayman intro talk at Porsche's parts warehouse in Ontario CA given by a PR guy not an engineer, but I assume some hydro-forming capability along with stamping. If you examine/feel the Cayman's rear quarter it's obviously a short radius bend.
