to clarify -- I'm looking at buying a used low mileage A5(or a killer deal on an S5, but not likely) -- its hard to tell from autotrader if the tails are LED or not (none are illuminated in pics).

I don't really mind if its the 2.0t or the 3.2, as long as it has the 19's + LED's
Mostly all 2009's do NOT have LED's. Only a handful got them toward the end. The LED's did not come into full play until the 2010 model year, and only with the higher packages.

i too am curious as well, most of the current vehicles 07 and up minus the a4/a3 have software updates that take care of most issues. the a4/a3 have the least tech in them, ie no lane assist, mmi, rear view cam's alot of the lighting ect... now if we are talking mid 2000's audi's thats a diffrent story.. i would pretty much stay away from anything from 2001-05... those were oil leakers and had crappy electronics. unless of course you are totally in love with one and have mad scrilla OR have an extended warranty.

I believe Audi started to put in the LED tail lights for the S5 in Dec 2008, not sure about the A5.

I will never understand Audi packages and why they add some things and remove some things which are of use. I still don't understand why the A5/S5 has a sunroof that does not fully open.

In reading this thread, I am utterly confused about the LED rear lights. The car costs a grip, it should be standard, not part of an option package.

Audi's option packaging is pretty simple compare to the Lexus' regional option packages. Audi is basically a 3 tier option package plus some stand alones. By the way, the LED tail lights are not a option, its a change they made to all the A5s.

because it would look stupid and goofy like this eclipse... the physial size of the glass and the contour will not allow a glass piece of that size to open all the way.

That sounds about right I was looking into changing my DRL on my A6 to LED. The cost was $2800 without labor.

Huh? I thought we already clear this up, the LED tail lights are not an optional package.

In general, not just talking about LEDs. Though value is completely relative so what I think is asinine is exactly what someone else might think is a value.

Audi is not exactly a value brand, although price wise, it competes pretty well with BMW and and MB.
