Default Value of used 2009 Pontiacs and Saturns

With GM's new $7000 incentive to clear all dealer lots of left over cars, does the value of used Pontiacs and Saturns now go down at bookvalue at least $5000 ??

Well, if the value of these cars goes down $5000, their worth will actually become negative $4,999 since they are only worth $1 now

Somebody might bring up some non-related exception, but the odds are most of these cars will have terrible rates of depreciation and little demand as desirable used cars.

The Saab example comes to mind....

The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice may have the potential to become classics, so, in the long run, their value may go up, not down. They are currently the only American-badged, small two-seat roadsters in production (the Corvette and Viper are in a different class), and the only viable competition for the Mazda Miata.

The Sky is a very nice looking car and much better looking than the Solstice.
You're right about both possibly becoming classic but they also might be forgettable like the early Fiero's too..

Agreed. I never liked the Solstice's buck-toothed grille.

The main difference between them and the Fiero is that, mechanically, the Fiero was a piece of junk...and I don't use that term lightly (the Fiero deserved it). It was one of the most poorly-built new vehicles I ever saw. The Solstice/Sky, while still not among the more reliable vehicles on today's market, are reasonably reliable for day-to-day driving.

A GM mid engine vehicle along with brakes and some suspension components from a Citation and Chevette just had to fail.
Yet,the Fiero sold well early.

A mostly sad ending and slew of cars in the final days of Saturn and Pontiac. Rest in peace.

But looking ahead to a promising new year in 2010, I'll say HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Be safe tonight and enjoy your car(s) too.
