Except to get the comparable hp out of the Cayenne Turbo S, you're going to have to shell out $152K base vs. $97K for a base X5 M up here.

I've also seen this color in person and its not bad but oddly the M treatment doesn't do anything for me and its just a lot of "blue" since its a big vehicle. Nothing breaks up the color. Can't believe it needs 22s to me as well.

Saw a Cayenne GTS today and I think (gulp) some of my heart is set on that vehicle (gulp).

Still while the purist in me is not a fan of "M" SUVs, kudos to BMW for offering it and basically defying physics with it.

Vehicles like this is why its great that some companies give us what we DON'T need and what is NOT necessary. B/C sometimes I think some governments want us all in hybrid Fiat 500s

I agree with you on this. We need more vehicles like this. This whole economy/Green thing is getting very boring. We need more cars that exist simply because the manufacturer wants to make it and because they can. For the few that can afford it and want to buy it more power to them.

This vehicle is not for the conservative type who does not seek to be different. Soccer mom mobile this is not.. Being an independent company allows BMW to do things differently. They are able to focus on turning great ideas (like the X5M) into great vehicles. Corners & costs do not need to be cut to please a parent company. Risks can be taken & they can build vehicles the way that they want. When it comes to building an X5M, the bottom line isn't a number-it's a feeling..

Drive one..

True, but for $90K that Turbo is gonna have to be 1+ years old... not new

Thanks for the advertisement but the reason it MADE it to production with the X6M and not any M3 or M5 CSL nor Z4 M is CUTTING COSTS. It was much cheaper to produce two M SUVs using pretty much the same components than M cars. Also these SUVs will be more profitable since they share parts and have a higher MSRP. Corners and costs were cut and this was a complete business decision, not a true "M" decision.

In this car it was 100% ABOUT the NUMBERS.
