^^^ This.

The worth of ranking high in this type of survey is that the OWNER may be more likely to buy another of the same brand because the vehicle met HIS/HER expectations. It does NOT indicate that one vehicle is objectively BETTER than another that scored lower.

Many people overlook this in the U.S. when, say, Buick scores a "Lexus-like" score. They fail to ask the important question, "What did it take to satisfy the Buick owner, and what did it take to satisfy the Lexus owner?" This a classic apples-to-oranges situation but everyone seems to ignore that and just exclaim, "WOW! Geo is now as good as Lexus!!!"

Also, people who buys Daihatsu tends not to be auto enthusiast, things like rattles and wind noise don’t bother them.

lol, there are a lot of people around the world, who rally and off road and would vehemently disagree with you.

p.s. what kind of enthusiast worries about wind noise and rattles?

Well that was sometime ago...I was about 19 when I bought it.... but it was cool for the time. It saved me from becoming a Honda lover, because I was looking for a civic when I accidentally bumped into this gem.

In fact, I think it was a pretty awesome little car.... weighed in at under 850kg, with a 6500rpm 125hp 1.6L engine (fffffuuuuuunnnnn). Also came with light wieght ROH alloys, Recaro seats, a Nardi steering wheel, power locks, windows, steering right out of the box (it was a special edition done by Detomaso). Good suspension (which I modified even further)... handled on a dime... lovely lift off oversteer, nicely weighted steering. Never, ever, broke on me. A tank would last me 1-2 weeks depending on the amount/type of driving I did, No rattles (except from an aftermarket speaker that I didn't bolt in correctly), no noteable squeaks....... Only think I ever had to change was the catalytic converter when I first got it.

Would I buy another? No...probably not. Maybe as a weekend rally car.... but that's about it. Still I have no regrets that I got, and it was great for the time and what it was.

p.s.
Wrecked it by the way. Through a fence, over a bank and rolled it. Walked out with 2 scratches. Wouldn't try it again. lol.

Just wondering, if it was such as a great car, why wouldnt you buy another one?

I know you didn't ask me the question, but I 've owned cars that I thought were great cars for me at the time, but I won't buy them again TODAY, since I've grown out of that class of cars. They are the first two cars I've ever owned personally, both Honda's.

That's more than can be said for a number of more expensive cars, particularly some German ones.

Thats what I mean, when you were in college, you expected a lot less from your car and you paid a lot less, therefore, you were satisfy.

Good point, I've owned several Hondas in the past too. Toyota probably benefited from it's owners upgrading to Lexus as they sought premium vehicles later.

Not so much expected less and expected different things.
