i wonder why bmw couldn't push out more torque from that engine.
most v8's should be able to make 330+
general rule of thumb sohc engines produce more low end torque than dohc, less valves per cylinder equals more torque. you either make your power at top end or low end. bmw chose top end which = bad torque but you get a free reving engine, corvette is not as rev happy it makes its power on tap. the bmw m3 is like a s2000 basicly worth less untill you got it at redline.
this is strictly to cars that are n/a and stock once we get into modding its a diffrent ball game
can you imagine what a Z06 or ZR1 would do. It would make the M3 seem more like a civic. with the premiums that were added to the early M3 once they released the new generation, you could probably get a ZO6
I love C6 Corvettes! It make you wonder if these things are truly made by GM. It drives like a German. I would take a z06 over the M3 if I needed a getaway car.

And why is that "how it should be"? Corvette was modded and a much lighter car. A more fair comparison would be against a 911 GT3.

the c6 vette is not sohc.
there is also a difference in about 2 litres of displacement.
