2012 BMW 3 series renderings
All BMW designs are all taken poorly at first. Everyone will love it when it comes out. BMW designs take time to grow on people, kinda like mold on chesse. Soon people will praise them with awards & give em 10 best car design.
Uhh... no. E46 was hot from day 1. E90 still looks fugly to me. And you can't surely say you like the 5 series. E92 only looks good with a nice set of wheels, drop.
for you maybe? it took me a while to get used to the e46 sedan, and obviously i am not used to the e90 sedan at all yet.
Yep, I like the E46 the first time I saw them, they are still the best looking 3-series ever to me. Even the E46 sedan, I think it looks better than the one it replaced right away.
Also, the current 5-series never grew on me, I still think it's an ugly car after all these years.
And the 6-series actually grew out of favour for me, I think it's quite good at first, not so much the more I look at them.

The comment about BMW designs being harsh at first is true, but BMW inspires lots of others. There was an article I read last year explaining the "Bangle influence" at other manufactures, and it's pretty astonishing for a design language that garnered so much controversy.
And why do you that is, it is because they are truely ugly designs. People get use to them because of their performance. Only BMW can get away with a ugly exterior design and a dull looking interior. If it was an American car that looks like that, people would have written it off a long time ago.
