Most dealers I know you usually have to ask for one when you're scheduling your appointment, and often it's a week or so out. You could get an appointment for sooner, but that would be without a loaner.

My subaru dealership in seattle claims to have "hassle free loaners" but I found out that's the same process, need to reserve it in advance, and apparently only on larger services, not for oil changes, etc.

The body shop I'm going to take the RX330 into (someone scraped the side and bumper, no note....) offers a 2008 BMW M3 Rental Car!!!

Usually I make appointments a couple days in advanced but sometimes I can't avoid 20 min before going in. The only time where that happened was when my alternator failed...while I was going to Lexus to schedule an appointment. I thought that was sort of convenient

I got a loaner even though they were just closing and all though. They were very friendly about it and joked a bit with me

my dealership gives a loaner for anything on a moments notice. 2 weeks notice.... what a joke. Its car service not a medical appointment with a specialist. 2 weeks LMAO. Infiniti here in town also gave loaners for anything at anytime. I cant believe they actually rented this guy a car

Most Mercedes dealerships deal with Enterprise for their loaners and we know the cars Enterprise carries. Just go for the show and bring popcorn.

I had a friend who had a benz and they used to always give him Volvo sedans. Kind of weird. I guess Infiniti and Lexus are the only brands that take car of their customers , even for lame **** like oil changes.

Thats why I will only rock Lexus or infiniti. Even BMW here in town said they will only give loaners if the car is going to be in service for something other than oil changes. No better than Acura. I will stick with my Lexus or go back to Infiniti if they get their **** together on the reliability end.

When I was shopping for this last car I passed up the STI and the EVO ( my first choices ), because they don't give loaners. I gotta get to work. Who has time for this ishh

Overall, I've had my consistently best service experiences at Acura dealers. Some Lexus service shops go above and beyond, but others have been poor. I've never had any experience with Infiniti, but they do have a reputation for a better than average dealer network so I would hope that would extend to the service department (and such things as a generous loaner car policy).

That's kind of silly, isn't it? After all, the service department is its own profit center. They're making plenty of money on every car that drives in there to be able to offer a suitable supply of loaners.

Doesn't work that way. If you drive all the way across town to purchase a car when you live right by us, then why should we go out of our way to help you, or provide the same benefits that people who purchase and service with us receive?

We're happy to work on your car, but you will receive none of the benefits that people who deal with us receive.

If you have a problem with it, then go back to where you purchased it. Oh right, it's not convenient. Well, it certainly was when you were buying the car.

I've noticed that Lexus's service is far superior than most. But then again you do pay out of your *** for maintenance.

I usually have to schedule a month in advance to get anything done (and to get a loaner at all) It took 5 days to get a tire replaced even (warranty work). All the loaners are ESs at the one I go to....and I didn't buy the car from them.

I also find it a hassle to drive a loaner but i understand most people have to.
I think part of the question is, was he told about this policy when he purchased? If no, I'd be pissed--I'd definitely make sure that I booked 2 weeks in advance to avoid an Impala (or PT Cruiser...).

When I bought my Lexus, I asked about the loaner and the pickup/drop off. "Can I arrange for pickup the night before?" I asked. "Sure, no problem, whatever you want." WRONG! You have to call 3-4 weeks in advance because they only have 2 drivers picking up each day. I was pretty annoyed--but since then, I have made sure to call 4 weeks in advance to schedule service.

the OP wasn't 2 weeks for a loaner; it's 2 weeks for a BMW loaner. If you book on a slower day, I'm sure they don't penalize you with an Enterprise. But if they are busy and run out of BMW loaners, first come, first served. They can't stock an endless supply of BMW loaners.

That attitude is probably why they purchased somewhere else to begin with.

The same applies for Lexus dealers especially in the NYC area. I have both Lexus & BMW so I can speak from experience.
