next-gen Hyundai Sonata (revealed)

Rumors saying a V6 wont be offered in the U.S. The V6 models account for a small amount of sales. Which is probably very true. I remember Toyota saying the Camry Hybrid outsells the V6 Camry by a nice margin as well. And they only sell about 2-3000 Camry Hybrids per month.
The car is freakin home run inside and out, but no V6 would make it a deal breaker for some including me (even if it is a small amount of people).

No V6 in the US, really? If that is true, it won't just mean a small amount of sales lost, more importantly it will negatively impact the image and reputation of the Sonata.
To be taken seriously in the midsize sedan market in North America, you need to offer a V6.

Hopefully, they might offer something like the 3.8 (from the Veracruz)

According to a report by Wards, Hyundai Motor America will not offer a V6 engine in its next-generation Sonata mid-sized sedan lineup. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata will go on sale in the United States early next year.
Instead, the new Sonata will be offered with Hyundai’s new 2.4L Theta II GDI 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 175-hp and returns an estimated fuel-economy of 22/32 mpg (city/highway). All engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic.
The new 2011 Hyundai Sonata for the U.S. market is expected to debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show in January.
Wards said that Hyundai is also nixing the V6 engine from its Tucson Crossover model.

Wait, so possibly no V6 in the Tuscon, and no V6 in the new Sonata? Bad move IMHO. In the North American market, image is important. Not having a V6 for your volume midsize sedan does not project a good image. Every major midsize competitor offers a V6 in their sedan.
This makes me wonder about the Sonata's price. With no V6, how high will a loaded Sonata go? If it is high 20K range, it definitely won't be good for image.

If the 4 cyl Sonata is going to cost around $29000 as many have speculated. A loaded Camry XLE I4 is $28000, a thousand dollar cheaper. Hyundai must have something up their sleeve, there is no way anyone would buy a Hyundai if it cost more than a Toyota. Maybe Hyundai is thinking somehow the Sonata can compete with the Avalon, well it would, especially with out a V6.
Hyundai is at a point where a lot of growing companies starts to make mistakes. Hyundai is aiming too high, they need to come back to earth alow down their growth. Build a solid reputattion 1st and then raise the price.

I've also noticed sometimes manufacturers put extra effort into keeping prices low for new model introductions.
They like it when reviewers and consumers are amazed at how much more car they can get for little or no increase in sticker price from the previous generation.
Then after everyone's done raving about the value of the Sonata, they'll bump the price up every year for the next few years while nobody's paying attention anymore.

Looks like dropping the V6 might have been because of a Turbo 4.
