Looks like a Camry, and that front end has not gotten any less goofy-looking.

The wwhitee car in this picture does make the front look awkward or maybe its just the photo?
In black though this car for $18K would look killer.

It does look similar to the 4th gen ES, which itself is very similar to the 6th gen Camry. Also let's not forget the front-end resemblance to a Solara.
Whether this looks better or not than a Camry/ES is debatable, but it's clear that Hyundai tried to imitate the Camry/ES in terms of exterior styling, just like the current, dated 5th gen Sonata imitates a 6th gen Accord in exterior styling.

Definitely looks like an overstyled Camry/ES. What's with the deformed/grinning lower air intake at the front? Also not a fan of that highly overstyled front grill, looks like it got into a fender bender and the center of the grille bars were dented.

I agree, it's definitely overstyled up front. Hyundai has had trouble with this on many models. The front is crunched, stretched, pinched, and somewhat mad (Grade- "C-"). The rest of the car's body profile looks good, if very Passat CC (Grade- "A-"). The back end is a nice compromise (copy) of ES350, new A4, LS460, and Mazda 6 (Grade- "B"). Overall, I think this will be a solid seller for the company. But Hyundai's habit of ripping off other popular models is still in full swing.

I have rented one of the older generation sonatas and it was impressive. I kept saying how pleased I was with the performance and the room. It didnt feel cheap at all

I agree, the whole car is over design almost to the point where it is gimmicky. Luckily for Hyundai, there is nothing exciting, in terms of entry level sedans, coming out of Japan lately.
