I have a friend who's currently working on his.

He ordered a brand new engine after his last one blew (he's on his second FD, and the second FD is on it's second engine i think...)

 

I would say he meant 95 since they did not offer a twin-turbo back in 85. If your buddy did buy a 95 with 5k miles on it, I hope it was ran REGULARLY. Rotary motors do not take sitting for long periods of time well. Their rubber hoses also tend to dry-rot so he probably needs to get it checked out thoroughly.
