Funny. Lexus did a pretty good job of copying that on the LS.

Lexus copy job is better looking that the original bussle butt of the 7 series. Most people have forgotten how ugly it was since it got revised about 3 times on the last gen 7 series.

Agreed, on the overall design aesthetic, the S-Class is more classy. That being said, the new 7 that I sat in at the LA Auto Show, did seem to have markedly improved materials, more shiny/glossy than showroom S-Class models I've sat in. On the outside, I do think though the front end is a bit overdone with the flared nostrils.

Good catch. It's interesting to see enthusiast-focused writers admit their biases once in a while. It was interesting to see a more luxury-focused perspective such as Fifth Gear's which focused on prestige/gadget/experience aspects.

It was a bit much, I saw at least one revision which did improve things quite a bit. Some have said the new 7 has elements which remind of the LS, in which case it's different makers borrowing off one another, or different makes coming to a similar design conclusion.

I have to say the fact that they give it to the bimmer is lame. Its why I dont buy this magazine anymore. The benz was given negative points because of the fenders. The benz look soooooo much better than the bimmer

I would still take a S550 over the new 7 series, looks much classier overall despite the ugly rear end.

bmw nostril bothers me. S is so sexy. it's still the King in my book. and LS is getting badly outmatched.

I dunno. I think the LS still holds its own pretty well. Lets not forget that the LS is getting a freshening later this year as well.

This is an interesting infrared test. Shows how effective the heating elements are. No wonder why heated seats are so damn expensive in the German cars compared to Japanese cars.

Nice comparison....

Lexus does seems to be lacking in this part...... then again the Lexus seat keeps working for more years than the BMW and the BENZ seats to offset the effectiveness!! LOL

I guess you can apply the Just in time methodology to this....just where you need it as opposed to every part of the seat!! Do you really need it in between your legs towards the front of the bottom cushion or where the bottom cushion meets the back part...lets face it that is the part of the seat that never sees any usage at all no matter how you have your seat adjusted!

i'm not sure if you have sat in a BMW 7 with the heated seats, but you can feel the heat from the part where you're not sitting on.. it helps heat the seat overall ratherthan have only a couple specific spots heat up.

Are you serious about the seat quality??? Thats the main reason why I ditched my lex here are the seats in my 72 280se thats after 37 years of wear and tear (the interior is un restored)

Crappy camera new pics coming in by the end of may or mid june! I plan on finishing this bad boy up.

I have a new grill, new hub caps, still debating on refreshing the leather. new carpets are ordered (custom). Wood trim is my only problem I cant find any trim thats in good shape online and I'm affraid of sanding down and repainting the original trim.
