Lexus Pursuit Email: 2010 IS C brochure linked!
As far as I understand from sources within the company, the ISc was always on the books- even from the very beginning- but got pushed back twice. They were allegedly planning to launch it in summer '07 as an '08 model and then it got pushed back 15 months the first time and another 7 or 8 months the second time.
As I understand, part of the "problem" was that they really wanted to build a coupe but in the end only the convertible got approval.

Does Lexus really think this is a true competitior to the BMW 3-Series Convertible, or did they benchmark a cheaper Volkswagen EOS (i.e. "girls car")? That's what it looks like to me, an uglier EOS, exclusively for the ladies. Not even in the same leauge, looks wise, as a 335i hardtop. Sorry.
what's sad is that the golf-derrived eos looks more expensive than this.

I really like the 2IS, but this thing looks just dumb.

Well, not all IS versions are designed for speed, like the IS350 and IS-F are. The automatic IS250 AWD version, especially, is somewhat sluggish....kind of like the 2.5L non-turbo AWD Subarus, which have the same size engine.
I think it looks pretty good but I'd still take an IS sedan.
Biggest problem is that it's too late. The 2010 model year is the 5th year in the cycle and now they add a convertible? We should be seeing an all new IS for 2011. Then what?

The EOS will probably end up showing similar sales statistics to Beetle cabriolet, which is sold predominately to female buyers. Automakers do monitor gender and age of buyers carefully.
Sorry, but I haven't been keeping up on all those lame stereotypes, therefore I wasn't aware.

But the point I was making is that there is no reason WHY straight males can't drive an EOS or Beetle Convertible, younger people Buicks and Cadillacs, and sedate drivers Mustangs. There are simply too many stereotypes in the auto industry.....and most of them are nonsense.
Take me, for example, when I was young and in high school. I liked not only the American muscle cars of the period (late 60s), just like most teenagers, but also big, quiet, smooth-running luxury cars as well. I had a Plymouth Barracuda (a pony car) and two Buicks before I was 20....liked all three of them. I especially liked the ultra-smooth Buick transmissions of the time.....even today's Lexus LS460 transmissions don't run and shift any smoother. And even though I liked the muscle cars too (what teen didn't?), I was not a terribly aggressive driver...I still drove with common sense, something a lot of guys back then didn't do.
