25k for a type r??????????
Uhhh.... what planet are you living on? Stock ITRs can barely crack 14s with a great driver. With mods they barely gain anything. M3s and NSXs are firmly in the 13s (though you won't find an NSX in good shape and low miles for $25k). The huge power difference (and the fact the M3 and NSX outhandle the ITR with ease) would make for sheer ownage at anything outside of parking lot kiddies driving through cones.

Guys can argue what this particular car is worth all day - bottom line is that it's worth what someone will pay for it. These cars with low mileage aren't exactly found on every corner used car lot.
There are a few guys with first-gen MR2s in immaculate condition that are getting upwards of $12,000... for a twenty year old car. Practically what these cars sold for new, but there just aren't many "nice" ones left. In the case of the first-gen MR2s, what else can you buy for $12-$15K that is mid-engined, light, fun, and economical?
I hope he gets good money for it. Why 'give' it away?

Dude... you just threw the rulebook out the window. Modded motors open a whole new can of worms. You say its worth $25k to open up a 7k mile motor on an ITR just to make it faster? Do you really want to compare it to turbocharged Supras, M3s, SC300/IS300/GS300s, and FDs w/ LS1s? Seriously? I think you're in over your head.
As a collectors item, I would NEVER EVER spend that much money on a slow FWD car. I'd rather spend $25k on my SC300

I remember the HPF car was making 600whp+ on pump gas with a 67mm turbo!!! The headflow on the I6 is insane. The ITR is little amateur stuff compared to this (and FWD to boot, who cares about a 400whp FWD car?)

That is my fav video LOL.

The car isn't that rare (and wasnt very special when it was sold), no need to respect it more than any other car.
If you like high-power FWD cars, then more power to you. I like vehicles that can be driven on the street without torque-steering me into a telephone poll.

I sometimes feel the same about the Supra. When it debut, the car was like most GT cars of the era. Hell, dealers can't seem to get rid of them in the late 90s! No one truly wanted one until the 2jz-gte's potential was unleashed.
Torque steer in a turbo ITR isn't that bad. My friend had one before it was stolen and it was quite easily one of the most fun cars I've driven. The ITR doesn't produce much torque, even when its boosted, but equal driveshafts and LSD helps tremendously.
It's no different than people paying a crazy amount for a 60's minicooper. You dont need RWD and big power in order to get recognition. ITR is FWD, but it drives better than most RWD. Truly an amazing car.

Yes, if you are a ITR fanatic, $25k for a clean title, non crashed, not modded and not stolen, with only 7k miles is a great deal. Even in stock form, the ITR has been named by many magazines as one of the best front wheel drive cars ever. Also after the NSX and the S2000 it is Honda's best car. Not now, but in the future these cars will be a collector's item, because of it's legend and the fact there will be very few that are perfect, most have been stolen, wrecked or modded to death.
