The Citroen DS and ID series of the mid-late 1950's were not only controversial cars in their looks (as many French cars have been), but also had features that were very unusual or unavailable in most other vehicles of the time, such as a hydro-pneumatic suspension, FWD, a one-spoke steering wheel, pillow-soft seats for comfort, and, of course, the famous, unconventional French dash/stalk and transmission controls that would drive anyone batty who was not used to them.
