Talking #$() Mark Levinson....who remembers when 6x9s was it!!!

You know you loved that 6x9 thump in your trunk  Funny how even the most basic systems today are decent let alone some of the ones like B&O, ML......

Remember when speakers were total afterthoughts in cars? Exposed speakers? Screws where you could swap them out in 2 minutes?

Then who remembers 6x9s????? ALL HAIL!!!!!

Hells yeah, no real need for a sub in most cars with those huge magnets on 6x9's, man sound systems have come a long way.

My first car was a 76 Mercedes 300D. It had 4" in the foot well & off-size 5x7 in the rear sill. Both had water damage when I got it, so I swapped them out, but had to use spacers for even same size replacements. I think it ended up with 4" MB Quarts up front & 5" Boston Acoustics (nobody could get the 5x7 to fit & nobody made a good one for my price anyways). My uncle gave me his old pair of MTX 10's & an amp for the trunk.
My buddy was the guy with 6x9's in boxes floating in his back window or seat.

People could get in the car and be like we have no room, then I go look !itch, dem is my 6x9's shut the **** up and listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I remember Jensen Triaxial 6x9 were "it" at one point...before Alpine and others came on the scene. I rocked some Boston Acoustics 6x9s later on too.

6x9s...LOL. The alternative to subwoofers for those who had little money. They distorted like crazy at higher volume because of the cone flexing.

Hell yeah, I upgraded the rear 6.5" speakers in my old 1991 Nissan Stanza with 6"x9" spacers and 3-way Pioneer speakers! It thumped very nicely, especially with my upgaded Sony 35Wx4 head unit with CD Player!!! (This was in 1999 btw when I did this...)

Those were the days (not)

As mentioned above, Jensen Triax speakers and a pioneer supertuner, underdash mount of course in my mom's 74 Duster.

I still can't figure out how Bose gets all these contracts when I can't find a single enthusiast who would buy their stuff.

Being pickier, I would not go for the Mark Levinson because he has nothing to do with the company (so where is the value added to his name anymore?)
