I would love to see the Prius's they have as I just checked there website to verify this I find that they have a rare type of Prius the 2009's that they have claim to have a 2.4 L engine http://www.toyotasunnyvale.com/Vehic...ils/1161361624 I thought oh new engine for 2009 NO I checked with the Toyota website the 2009 Prius has the same engine for the fifth year a 1.5 L I do volunteer work locally and I park at the Toyota dealers storage yard. They are moving cars like crazy. several of us volunteers noticed that they move inventory fast. I also drove past another Toyota dealer they were packed with customers also where I get my RX400h serviced had no room for customer parking they were that busy.

didn't TRDFantasy say that prius sales were low because they were supply limited and that there should be no shock there?

137 does seem like a lot of a single model car, but dealers don't have to store them on their own lots. Many of the dealerships where I live rent out large parking lots or vacant lots and store many of their new cars. During off peak shopping times, one of the local malls used to rent out the parking lot across the main mall to the car dealerships to store their new cars. Could easily hold 500 cars there.

Keep in mind, Silicon Valley folks are pretty net saavy, thus probably already heard about the 2010 Prius coming forth next year (remember Palo Alto Toyota tried to to sell them already). So... new generation incoming, cheap gas prices, and a downward economy = great time to buy / negotiate on ANY car in general.

I drove by this dealer and there are indeed a whole lot of Prius lined up. Not 137 but lots. The only thing I would caution about Toyota lots is that if they are cars waiting to go to dealers, it is meaningless to get an idea of sales volume by looking there. Just as with GFC, their sales are to dealers, not to customers. And there are Chrysler dealers building new lots because Chrysler is forcing them to take cars. Toyota will be doing the same thing. Where the cars sit is at the dealers, not the mfr.

Regardless of the number of cars at this dealer, the advent of a '10MY Prius, the mere fact that they are advertising the Prius and the fact that they put up that they have 137 '09s in stock is a dramatic change from just a few months ago. No Toyota dealer wasted advertising dollars on the Prius and if you could find one at all, the question was how much over sticker you were going to pay. Spin that all you want but I still find it amazing and with gas here at 1.70/80/90, I don't Prius sales rebounding anytime soon. New model or not.
