Ours is a 1999, first model year. That in itself was a mistake when we bought this car. Paid cash for it too

The 2002-2005 model years are wonderful. Volvo did manage to work out the kinks from the first 3 years and have actually built a sound (mechanically), comfortable, stylish, fast automobile.

Yep. Blown turbos, countless electrical problems, trim moldings falling off, numerous tranny problems, coolant leakage, blown tires left and right(stock tires for those years were crap) just to name a few. I still cant get over your turn signal fiasco. That is just out of control.

THankfully the newer S80's like you mentioned are a lot better. Many just come in for the routine check up. Quality is improving year after year which is good for them.

Back to the old days of solid tank like Volvo's.

They aren't biting just yet tho, we went over to the dealer to have my SC appraised just for the hell of it, and the salesperson was a real jackass and a half. Ever since then, my dad seems reluctant to even want to walk into that Lexus dealer again. I told him there are other dealers around, but he won't take the bait. It's not like there is even ANY other car that he has ever "liked" more than the 1990 LS4 we had for 9 years. He started off with an old Volvo, his words after that "I'm never buying Volvo again." Then he owned a Pontiac Bonneville for a while, his words after that, "I'm never buying American again." Then he had a 5 speed Maxima that gave him nothing but transmission problems. His words, "I'm never buying another 5 speed again." Then came the LS, never a complaint, never a problem. We did pick up a 1994 Nissan Altima while we had the LS, but it got traded in for this new VolvoS80. Then we sold the LS back to the Lexus Dealer in exchange for my SC, and went to another luxury box -- BMW 740IL on his company lease, man was that thing a headache too. His words, " Thats the last time I buy a BMW." Lexus seems to be the only car he even considers buying at this point, but only God knows what's keeping him from acting on it and trading in this crappy Volvo for a new GS

HE did say the other day that with these gas prices, he really wants a hybrid as his next car. I can already see myself pushing the GS450h out into the forefront

bro i had a s80 for my first car..it was the biggest piece of whale crap ever made..the tranny, window didnt work,o2 sensors, you name it,it was broken your dad should def get rid of that car bro keep trying lol good luck
