Nitro or Caliber/Compass. Pretty much a tie.

My cousin bought a Dodge Nitro a little over a year ago and it was surprisingly a pretty nice vehicle. It is no Mercedes or anything but after riding in it a few times I could not really fault too much considering the price you pay for it. I know reliability will be very iffy but it was pretty decent, I had extremely low expectations and was kind of cringing when I heard he chose it so maybe I was just expecting the worse but it rode nice, quality of materials was decent, and it did not have any squeaks or rattles and some nice features and best of all it did not break down any of the times I rode in it.

I think that guy must have won a $500 shopping spree at Pep Boys.

Pep-Boys - adding bling to your worthless POS car one chrome stick-on doo-dad at a time.

It's space efficient and fairly roomy, but that's about it. It's cheaply designed, cheaply built, has flimsy plastic materials all over the interior, a rather crude paint job, low-quality fabric on the seats, and controls/stalks that aren't very tactile or pleasant to operate. It's OK if you can live with a crudely done box for hauling things around or going through bad weather, but, overall, just not my idea of a very nice vehicle. ArmyofOne is correct.

And, as far as the price goes, for what a Nitro costs, you can get a Honda CR-V that is light-years ahead in overall build quality and materials.
