I think the e39 was a great car (I had one). But when I see one on the road today, it almost looks bland. Things move on....

E39 look great in its era, but definitely dated right now, E60 looks much better in my opinion. And I am sure this F10 will look even better and more modern.

Wink

Looks like a copy of the Hyundai Genesis to me. When is BMW going to quit copying Korean cars?

this is an unofficial bullshiet rendering. i saw this many months ago on the internetz.

i bet the actual car isn't gonna look anything like this, and will borrow the new sedate styling of the new 7 series.

it's just a mix n match chop of the 3 and X5.
took the X5 tail light, squashed it, and added a diagonal part.

Looks good... and looks bigger, like every generation has compared to the prior.

I agree. A couple of minor changes and it's scary how much it looks like the new 5.

Let's be honest - all theses cars look a like in many ways (four doors, etc). You could argue that the Genesis looks like the M35/M45 or the RL or the Q45.... from your picture above

But tails and headlights are distinguishing features of a car. Another is the grille on a car. You can't just make the argument that people are saying the cars are similar because they have four doors.

Default 2010 5 series

BMW is preparing the next-generation of its 5-Series for launch in 2010 — 2009 for the European market and Motor Authority managed to get some spy photos. When the new 5-Series finally arrives — likely in 2010 — it will be available with the same 400hp twin-turbo V8 found in the X6, which would put it close to the current BMW M5.

It’s also rumored the 6 cylinder version of the 5 series will keep the twin turbo engine used in the 535i model. The next-generation 5-series is expected to feature an eight-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive option being available. Also notice the quad-exhaust which really shows this 5 series means business and will most likely have current M5 performance speeds.

Agreed - and thus my point that the rear end of that car looks like a M35/M45/RL/Q45....
